Plain words on what we keep about you and who can see it. Last updated 17 October 2026.

Who we are

AfriRise Opportunities is a job board for Ghana. It is not yet a registered company. Until it is, the founders of AfriRise Opportunities are responsible for your data. Questions or requests about your data: PLACEHOLDER@example.com.

The short version

  • Your profile is not public. An employer sees it only after you apply to one of their jobs.
  • Your pay expectation stays hidden unless you switch it on.
  • We never sell your data, and we do not show advertising.
  • No employer may charge you anything. Report any who do.
  • You can delete your account, and what is in it, at any time.

What we collect

  • Account: your name, email address, password (stored scrambled, never readable), and whether you are a job seeker or an employer.
  • Profile, if you add it: phone number, town and region, photo, headline, skills, work history, education, certificates, languages, referees, links, and the work you are looking for, including expected pay.
  • CVs you upload or build here.
  • Applications: which jobs you applied to, the CV and note you sent, and where each application stands.
  • Employers: company details, job posts, and the checks we make before a company is verified.
  • Reports of suspicious jobs. You can report without signing in.
  • Technical: a sign-in cookie, and your internet address, which we scramble and keep for a day at most to stop abuse such as password guessing.

Who can see what

  • Anyone: published jobs and company profiles.
  • An employer you applied to: your profile, CV and work history, for that application. Your pay only if you chose to show it. Your referees only on a CV you send.
  • Other employers: nothing about you.
  • AfriRise Opportunities staff: accounts and companies, to verify employers and act on reports. Staff cannot read applications.
  • If we later let employers search for candidates, you will be left out unless you switch it on.

These rules are enforced by the database itself, not only by the website, and we test them every time the site changes.

Services that handle data for us

Your data is stored and processed outside Ghana, by these companies, only to run the site:

  • Supabase: the database, sign-in, and file storage for CVs and photos.
  • Vercel: hosts the website, and counts visits without cookies.
  • Anthropic: when you ask for help with wording on your CV, the text you wrote, the job title and the employer name are sent to its AI. It may not use them to train its models. We keep only a count of requests, not the text.

Cookies

One cookie keeps you signed in. The site cannot work without it, so we do not ask first. We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Visits are counted without cookies and without identifying you.

How long we keep it

As long as your account exists. When you delete it, your profile, CVs, photos, applications and saved jobs are deleted with it. Copies in our backups are gone within 30 days. A job you posted stays with its company; it simply no longer carries your name.

Your rights

Under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you can:

  • See what we hold about you.
  • Correct it. Most of it you can edit yourself on your profile.
  • Delete it. Use Delete my account, or email us.
  • Object to how we use it.

Email PLACEHOLDER@example.com and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

Age

You must be 15 or older to create an account. If you are under 18, check with a parent or guardian first.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects what employers can see, we will tell you on the site before it takes effect.
